Robert Kelly Isbell passed away on Saturday, January 1st, 2022, after a month-long battle with an aggressive form of COVID. Just shy of 57, he was a loving husband, devoted dad, a doting Papau and a treasured soul mate.
Robert was born on January 3rd, 1965, in Los Angles, California. He attended the University of Phoenix where he achieved two Masters degrees in Computer Sciences. In 1985 he married his high school sweetheart, Julie (Hawrey.)
An avid traveler, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy, here he was able to visit all over the United States and the world. His time in the service was spent learning everything and anything he could, from Fire Control Technician to Radar Technician. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1992 after nine years of loyal service to his country.
He then followed in his father’s shoes by joining the United States Post Office. This job took his family to Roy, Utah where they spent six years. While living there, Robert and Julie took every opportunity with their girls to camp and fish in the beautiful mountains around their home. In 1998 Robert moved his family to Arizona to be closer to extended family. After some time, Robert and Julie decided that they were much better friends than husband and wife. They split and remained best friends while still raising their daughters.
In 2008, Robert moved to Hawaii where he met Sarah Jane Kramer. They lived happily in Hawaii together until their return stateside in 2012 when they moved to Texas. In 2020 Robert became employed at Hill Air Force Base in Salt Lake City, Utah. Robert and Sarah enjoyed riding their Harley Davidson trike, camping, and playing with their two chihuahuas. In December 2021 Robert was admitted into George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT with COVID-19 where he was placed on a ventilator and unfortunately, never got to leave.
Robert is survived by his stepfather Richard, two daughters Jeanne Holland and Kristen Ives, and his four grandsons Edward, Ethan, Andrew, and Greyson. He was predeceased by his father Richard Kelly Isbell, his mother Patricia Ann Isbell (Floyd) and brother, David Madison Isbell.
