My heart goes out to the Sparks family to hear of Bob's passing. He was a friend and co-worker for many years. He will truly be missed. God Bless you Bob!

I first met Sgt Bob in the late 80's when he instructed an HGN class I attended. We struck up a friendship that covered a few decades. I knew then that he was a very special person and an outstanding police officer. 

Toward the end of our careers, Bob was the midnight shift lieutenant out of Squaw Peak and I was the midnight shift sergeant in Paradise Valley. Because of our friendship and respect for each other, we erased the city limit signs at 32nd Street and assisted each other's squads catch a lot of bad guys and fleeing vehicles. Bob even requested and was authorized a PPD radio for my squad. (PV36) 

I learned a great deal from Bob and he made the last decade of my career very enjoyable. As it turned out, without the other's knowledge, we both retired on 1-30-09. 

I miss you a great deal, my friend. You are on duty in a much more Heavenly environment now.

Our warmest thoughts and prayers for the Sparks family! Bob was a wonderful and warm human being with an incredible laugh and sense of humor. I will always remember how he associated some of his favorite dishes with his favorite people! We knew Bob from his pre-law enforcement days and have been so proud of his achievements over the years.

I was so sorry to receive the sad news from my mom on the sudden passing of her dear nephew and our cousin. Deepest condolences to my aunt Lina, and all Roberts family and friends.

Thank you Bob, for helping and comforting me during some tough times when I was a young patrol Officer working the night shift so many years ago. I grieve for the loss, but I praise God that Bob is now with our Lord and Savior. I pray that God will bless and comfort Bob's family and friends during this time.

I probably knew  Bob longer than most. He was always a great friend and Judy and I have known since he worked with Associated ambulance . I
talked him into joining the Sheriff's reserve and later made him my corporal. He loved it and on a. $50 bet with me he took the PPD test. He passed and I lost. He purchased his first house from us and later allowed us to become part of his growing family. I'm glad to say I love them to this day . I 'll miss you buddy, you can never be replaced but always remembered. I love you

I think everyone who knew Robert will agree he was a constant uplifting influence on everyone he met. I did not know him for very long but can say I will miss him and his leadership abilities, and his own way of making you want to excell like he always did, as he led by example. This is a great loss for us all. May God bless you and yours and help with the pain you feel in your hearts. Robert is on his way to heaven and surrounded and protected in Gods love.

I enjoyed working and interacting with Bob at ADOT.  He was a man of integrity and fun to be around.  He will be missed by all.  Steve Kalina, ADOT.

Bob was a great man and a constant respected leader ,He will be missed But he will be remembered in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace as he now is in our Gods loving and caring arms and has no more pain. Bob and our Sgt . retired on the same day  and we were honored to have him  at our bosses retirement dinner ,we also were honored to know him and considered him part of our family to.

Bob was an amazing person.  

From the moment I met him I was so very lucky to have him in my life.  He was always there, every time I needed someone to talk too.  

He was so proud of his girls, Bri and Ashley.  Just thinking about them always made him happy.  He Loved his wife Sherry so much and knew how lucky he was to have found her.  

I will miss you a lot Bob, and remember you always.

Bob was a constant in my life all through my childhood, and when I got to be an adult he was someone I could always call with a problem. Words can't even say how sad I am about losing him. I'm thinking about his girls every day.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many good memories of Bob and his family from my early childhood on Meadowbrook and have thought often about the Sparks over the last almost 50 years. I was a friend of Kenny's,Bob mowed our lawn for us when my brother was in Vietnam, got mad at me for calling Oliver Olive oil.romped with us every once in awhile.I was part of this family ! I would like to thank Bob for his service to the force. I know he was well respected and a good man. I also want to thank him for the love and care he has always given to his mother. She was proud of him always and their friendship was priceless.  A very good son and officer. RIP

I was so sorry to hear about Bob's illness and death. I worked many years with him on highway safety issues when I was involvement in MADD during the 80's and 90's. He was as dedicated to stopping drunk driving as we were and was always supportive of our work. He'd show up to our events, even on his own time, and had a great way about him. We enjoyed many laughs together throughout those years of working together and I remember him fondly. He was taken too soon but the work he did when he was here was remarkable. I know he loved his family as he talked about them often. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Bob joined the PPD shortly after I did and we met in patrol at the Union hills precinct! We never worked on the same squads but we always crossed paths on duty!  Years later I transferred to motors and got to work a lot with Bob and his motor squad ! A great policeman and a great friend! The Phoenix Police Dept. was a better place to work because of Bob! My prayers go out to his family and friends!

Much appreciation to the Sparks family for supporting Lt. Sparks through his long career. I have several PPD colleagues and was honored to have seen the video of the tribute procession last week. It touched my heart to the core. I meet Lt. Sparks a few times while working the freeways in Central Phoenix. He was a good man. My heart tells me he earned his place in heaven a long time ago. A heartfelt sentiment of appreciation to all of you who supported him, hugged him on tough days and allowed him a release from the stressors of the job. May God continue to bless all of you.

Bob has been a trusted family friend for over 40 years and best friend to my brother Billy Sampson. He is a loss to his amazing family, and beautiful wife. He will be missed by a community in which he made better. He was someone you could count on in good times and bad  and always loved a good time with family and close friends. I will always remember sparky at my Cristmas party in Cave Creek and some little kids through marbles at us over the fence. I was on the reserve where the desert was behind my house.  The marbles hit my guests and went in my pool, it was so  crazy because we did not know what was going on. Sparky of course was ready to respond and I said it's ok we will let the Phoenix police handle as you have had some holiday cheer, in which he didn't indulge often! So, about an hour later a squad car shows up at my home with  an 8 and 10 year old apoliziing with Sparks and my brother Billy who of course are 
packing heat. Needless to say the father of the kids turned really pale! Sparky we will always have you in our hearts and know we love you! Linda Sampson-Houser-Zenonian

Bob was always a Phoenix Policeman and did his job to the best he possibly could. A friend and and always had a kind word in passing the time of day. The City lost a brother but I lost a friend. With our deepest sympathies to the family God bless. Bill Fisher
