March 15, 1965 – May 1, 2026
Ronald “Ron” Matthew Hosmer, 61, passed away on May 1, 2026. Born in New York, Ron eventually made his home in Phoenix, Arizona, where he became a cornerstone of his community and a pillar for his large, loving family.
A dedicated and savvy businessman, Ron owned and operated multiple tire shops throughout his life. For Ron, his work was about more than just business; it was about building a lasting legacy to pass down to his children—a true reflection of his commitment to their futures and his desire to provide "above and beyond" for those he loved.
Above all, Ron was a man of genuine heart and boundless generosity. He was the person who made sure everyone was "good," always looking out for his friends, family, and neighbors with a deep sense of consideration. He carried a playful spirit and was notorious for his jokes and his special way of "lovingly aggravating" those he cared about most. His unique ability to bring laughter and light into a room made him a man who was not just respected, but truly adored.
A Legacy of Community
The impact of Ron’s life was perhaps best captured by a member of the hospital support team, who noted that in helping over 1,200 hospitals across Arizona, they had never seen a group as large or as supportive as the one that gathered for Ron. As the staff member beautifully stated:
"This man was a somebody to everybody. He wasn't only someone to the community—he was the community."
Family
Ron is survived by his partner, Yolanda; and his 11 children: Ashley (Mike) and their son, Arlo; Haleigh (Alexander); Amanda and her children, Eduardo and Elena; Moesha; Ronnie and his children, Eduardo and Aurora; Matthew; Tyra; JJ; Shania; Destiny; and Jacob. He also leaves behind his sisters, Debbie, Cindy, and Terri; his brother, Tim; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Cruz and Christian; his granddaughter, Ailicec; his parents, Virginia and Leon; his brother, Leon; and his sisters, Karen, Darlene, and Pam.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the nurses, staff, and support team at Banner Estrella Medical Center. We are forever grateful for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Ron and our family. A heartfelt thank you to the hospital team for honoring Ronald with a Hero Honor Walk, a final tribute to a man who never stopped giving.
