

Saturday, September 22nd, 2012. He was born in Magdalena, New Mexico, on
August 23, 1919, to Roy William and Ura Carson. In 1923, his family moved to
Kingman, where he grew up. He was an all-state quarterback at Kingman High
School, graduating in 1938. Later he played football for the University of
Arizona. In 1941, he married Marjorie Merrill, and shortly after, joined the
U.S. Navy. He served on the destroyer USS McCord throughout World War II,
participating in many Pacific battles. In 1952 Roy lost his beloved wife,
Margie, to Lupus. Later he found true love again, marrying Dorothy Myers,
in Los Angeles. In 1957 they moved to Phoenix where Roy became CFO of the
Spring City Kniting Company in Glendale. He was always active, serving as
President of the Phoenix YMCA and Chamber of Commerce. He and Dorothy
enjoyed 55 years together before her death in 2007. Roy was an active member
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and is survived by his
son; Scott (Linda) Carson of Logandale, Nevada and his daughter; Dee (Lynn)
Hancock, of Safford, Arizona, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A
visitation will be held Friday, September 28 at 12 noon at the Phoenix
Central Ward, 47 E. Ashland in Phoenix. Funeral Services to immedately
follow at 1p.m. Graveside services to be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn, 2300
