Ms. Ruby Jackson was one of eleven children born in Winona, Mississippi, to the union of George and Virginia Jackson. All of her siblings preceded her in death. She made her transition on Friday, October 21, 2011 at St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Mother Jackson, as she was affectionately called by her church family and friends, moved to Chicago at a very young age. There she began a career at the U.S. Postal Service. She was united in matrimony to Diaz Wade. Although she was a mother to many, Mother Jackson had a biological son and daughter who predeceased her at a very young age.
She relocated to sunny California where she lived for approximately 20 years.
Mother Jackson left California and moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she became a member of Grace Temple COGIC, continuing to serve the Lord, the most important part of her life. Her church involvement included fund-raising, working as a youth leader and teaching Sunday school. She had an extensive knowledge of the bible and was as abreast as a biblical scholar. She was also an outstanding cook known for those great “sweet potato pies.”
Ruby lived many years assisting in the raising of many children including her beloved nephew Van (Skip), who she cherished and proudly called “her boy”. She was a loving aunt to her niece Virginia (Ginger) who loved her dearly and considered her a second mother.
She leaves to cherish her memory: nephews: Van, Gherman, Walter, Marvin and Melvin; nieces: Virginia, Norma Jean; grandnephew: George; grandnieces: Shannon and Kelci; and many other relatives and friends.
