Born in Memphis, Tennessee, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona as a child, where she grew up and attended school in South Phoenix. She carried the warmth of her southern roots with her, enriching the lives of everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
Sheila was the cherished wife of Lester (Larry) for 57 beautiful years. She is survived by her adoring daughter Liz Barrick (Matt) and her five treasured grandchildren: Preston Trauscht, Nathan Trauscht, Amelia Trauscht, Evan Barrick, and Garner Barrick. She took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness. Sheila is predeceased by her son, Todd, and her sister, Freddie Antilla and her brother, John Garner.
As the controller and financial mastermind of her family’s manufacturing business, Sheila dedicated herself to ensuring its success. Her passion for her work was matched only by her unwavering love of the many dogs that shared her life. She instilled her love for these loyal creatures in each and every family member, who now carry her appreciation for their companionship.
A wonderful cook, Sheila had a gift for bringing people together around the dining table. She loved sharing her joy of food with friends and family in their home, whether it was a simple meal or an elaborate feast. Her culinary skills extended to gardening, pickling, and fermenting, as she delighted in harvesting the fruits of her labor and sharing them with those she loved.
In addition to her many talents, Sheila found great joy in spending time with friends and family at their house in Rocky Point, Mexico, sharing the breathtaking sunsets and delicious margaritas.
Sheila was a remarkable woman whose legacy lives on through countless cherished memories of those she touched with her kindness, generosity, and fun-loving spirit. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for donations to Stealing Hearts Dog Rescue in Sheila's name.
