Siever Raymond Braatelien passed away on July 23, 2018. He was 22 years old, one month shy of his 23rd birthday. Siever was born in Antioch, California. He lived in Phoenix and Glendale for the last 20 years.
Siever played chess in the Bellair Elementary School chess program and played trumpet and guitar in the Desert Sky Middle School Performance Jazz Band. He played Pop Warner Football, Little League Baseball, swam with the Bellair Barracudas swim club, wrestled with the Sky Hawk Wrestling Club, and competed with the Ben Avery’s Clay Crushers shotgun team. Siever was a Boy Scout and achieved the high rank of Star Scout.
Siever graduated from Deer Valley High School in 2013. At Deer Valley High School Siever was on the wrestling team, football team and swim team. He sang in the advanced choir group the Skyhawk Singers. During the summers before school, Siever worked at Wet & Wild as a certified life guard.
After graduating High School, Siever went on to EMT school and passed the National Registry exam and became a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Siever worked as an EMT at the Arizona Grand Resort Hotel and at the Sky Harbor Concentra Urgent Care Clinic.
Siever was on the last phase of completing school to become a certified Paramedic. To make ends meet through school, Siever worked as a bouncer at the Cabin in Peoria. Siever’s ultimate goal was to one day become a medical doctor. Siever enjoyed jogging, weight lifting, playing the piano, mountain climbing, hiking, downhill snow skiing, song writing, and enjoying life to the fullest. He was an extraordinary human being, larger than life. He was truly a force of nature. Siever always had a great attitude, was always positive, he had a great sense of humor, spread joy and laughter to whoever he was with. He was a very loving and sweet person and always stood up for what was right. He never backed down from a fight if called for. He was courageous and fearless.
Siever had 4 brothers, one niece, one nephew, many aunts, uncles, cousins and two very loving parents. Siever loved God. We know he is with Him now. He will be greatly missed by his family and the large circle of friends who loved him.
