Suzie was born September 18, 1958 in Chicago, Il and never lost her love for the city, even after living in Phoenix for decades. She shared 20 years of marriage with Sam LaMantia, who preceded her in death in 2014.
She attended Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago and always looked upon those years fondly. She maintained friendships from her childhood, as far back as kindergarten. The friends she made in Chicago remained near and dear to her heart as part of her chosen family. Suzie’s favorite pastime was keeping up with everyone.
Her first job out of high school was with Sears, Roebuck and Co. in the Sears Tower, but much of her career was spent with the John O. Butler Company in Chicago where she was eventually responsible for planning and coordinating tradeshow events. After moving to Arizona in 1998, Suzie worked for several companies within the financial services industry. She prided herself on attention to detail and running a tight ship.
Suzie’s life was not free from challenges and those close to her did their best to help her face them. Many in Suzie’s life provided her with love and support, for which her family is grateful.
Suzie is survived by her daughter, Krystle McMaster (Craig); sister, Donna Cadden (Tim); nephew Thomas Cadden (Tami); boyfriend William Lundberg; and many life-long friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam LaMantia; her mother, Jeanne Zawisza; and her step-father Walerian Zawisza.
A memorial service (that will look a lot like a party) will be scheduled for a later date in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice. In the meantime, wear your favorite piece of tie-dye and play a Beatles song for Suzie.
