Sylvia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was defined by quiet service, deep faith, and unwavering love. She was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 17 and later served a full-time mission in the Colombia Bogotá Mission—an experience that deeply influenced her testimony and purpose.
On July 9, 1988, she married Rick Fleming, and together they raised five children: Jared, Nathan, Rikki, Matthew, and Erin. Sylvia had a lifelong passion for family history and spent countless hours researching, indexing, and helping others connect with their ancestors. Her love for her family—both past and present—was at the very heart of who she was.
Sylvia is survived by her husband Rick, their five children, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, four grandchildren, three brothers, one sister, and many extended family members and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter-in-law.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 15005 North Dysart Road, El Mirage, AZ 85335. A viewing will take place prior to the service from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. All who knew and loved Sylvia are welcome to attend and honor her beautiful life.
The graveside/committal service is scheduled for July 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery, 719 N 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
