I am so so sad to hear of Tom's passing, I've sent him messages over linkedin and now know why I didn't get a return. More importantly why it took me so long to search out why.  I first met Tom in 1982. At our first meeting I knew he was a man of honor and integrity. If he told you he would do it then it was done. A proud man with a big heart always willing to help a person in need and never expected anything in return. Tom was a man I looked up to and was proud to call him a friend. We followed each other around the country and business opportunities, including the first Villa la PAWS. I could go on and on about Tom as a friend, gentlemen, his ability to get thru the stuff and solve the problem.
I only wish that I would have not let time go by so long before taking the time to wonder what the big guy was doing.  Love to the big Guy, peace be with him.

So glad to see that Tom's legacy is living on at Villa La Paws.  Although he is sorely missed, his spirit can be felt resonating there -

It's uncanny how I came across Tom's obituary but it was meant to be. I worked with Tom at Documentation Resources, Inc. which eventually combined with Computer Task Group. Tom saw something in me that I didn't see...possibilities and talent! He put me on my path in Technical Writing and was a wonderful mentor and guide. Can't count how many pep talks he gave me, encouraged and counseled me in so many aspects of life. He was a great guy! Thanks for everything, Tom; I'll see you on the other side!

The world lost a good one!  May his white light and laughter exist in all of us!  I just found out about his passing.  Truly a major loss.  He was so kind to me and the special need animals he helped find amazing lives.  Truly a bright and giving soul.  It was a pleasure to have met Tom...we all were blessed to have him in our lives.

I'm so sad to hear about Tom's passing. Even though we just met a few months ago, Tom quickly became my mentor. He was kind and generous with his advice and knowledge for my new doggy business. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.

Tom was my Boss, Mentor and Friend.  Tom had a way about him that when trouble happened he always saw the silver lining and put things into proper perspective with a plan.  I am sure that when Tom reaches heaven he will assist the big guy in running the show and talk to the big guy about different opportunities.  I will miss him very much.

As a long-time customer of Villa La Paws, I am deeply saddened for the loss that all of his family and friends feel.  Tom was truly a gentle soul and wonderful man who had the amazing ability to reach out and help others see the good around them.  Paws is a legacy that Tom leaves that will carry on.  I am grateful for the opportunity to know Tom - and so are my boys Dewey, Yogi and Boomer.  I'm sure Dewey and Yogi have already welcomed him to heaven with lots of kisses.  I hope you find good memories take over the sadness we feel now.

Dear Tom,

I don't know if you ever realized how much you impacted me. Over the years you have been such an amazing mentor, friend and inspiration. As a fellow small business owner, I was always encouraged and motivated by your knack and passion for business - somehow you always seemed to be able to turn challenges in opportunities and had a way of making sure everyone benefitted. 

You were a big dreamer, but also a doer. Lord save the person whoever tried to stand in the way of making your dream a reality. :) I indeed learned so much from you over the years - how you let everyone at the table have a voice, encouraged leadership, and followed the mentality that a rising tide lifts all boats. (But one of my favorite "Tom-isms" has always been "At first the truth will piss you off, but then it will set you free.") You were serious when it came to business, but always found room for humor!

You also cared deeply. You cared about your family, friends, employees, people you did business with, animals, and the community. There was never a doubt if anyone (or any animal) ever was in need, you'd be there in a heartbeat to lend a caring, helping hand. 

Your leadership in the community will never be forgotten and the impact you made will persist. Thank you Tom for being you! You've taught, inspired and encouraged me know than you probably ever knew. I will miss you dearly my friend.

I am very sorry for your loss.  My 1  year old dog, Zachary, has been going to Villa La Paws since he was 4 months old.  Villa La Paws has become a place I became dependent upon for doggie day care, boarding and grooming.   Although I never met Tom personally, I read several articles about him.  I appreciate who he was and I admire his accomplishments and his advocacy toward animals.  Tom's passing is not only a great loss to his family but also a great loss to the world.

Words just can't express my sadness for your loss. Tom was truly a man that lived life like he loved it! His contagious laugh and generous personality will always be remembered. He made BEST consulting truly the best place to work. Prayers to his family. He will be missed.

The picture in the Republic does not resemble the Tom that I knew but, the write-up described him?  If this is the Tom that started a documentation company (PBS) and sold it to CTG I have the right Tom.
Rest in peace Tom and I will always remember the good times we had with PBS and CTG!

Tom was a wonderful and caring person with a great vision.  Villa La Paws has been so great for our dogs, Fred, Ginger and Pepe.  Our condolences go out to Tom's family and the Villa La Paws family.  We will all miss Tom.

We have been taking our boys to Villa La Paws for almost 3 years now. So sorry to hear that Tom has passed. Our condolences go out to family and friends.

Tom was a very caring individual.  He allowed us at Lost Our Home Pet Foundation to assist pet owners in need through our Temporary Care Program.  His kindness and generosity  helped families to keep their pets while going through a life crisis.  Tom helped us to save lives, and he will be greatly missed by the people and pets who's lives that he touched.

As I was looking for work, I had come across Villa LA Paws just shortly after Tom purchased it, I didn't have much experience with a group of dogs, all I had was with my own pets, well they gave me a chance and training, so with that I am very grateful I had the opportunity to move up with the company. He also helped me personally and for all this I am grateful. Saddened for this loss. My prayers, love, light for the family.

Was so shocked and saddened to hear the news. I have been taking my dog to Villa La Paws all her life - over 5 years. It was always a pleasure to talk to Tom. He always so pleasant and positive. My condolences to his family and all his employees. He leaves behind a legacy of caring for the animals and people. I will miss seeing you Tom.

My husband and I have been bringing our dog to VLP for about a year, and we are deeply saddened for Tom's family and friends.  His love for all is clear, and he has left such a wonderful legacy.

What a loss to the community.  Tom always had a smile on his face, and even though he came in contact with numerous pets over the years, he always remembered our Boston Terrier's name, Desi.  He made you as a customer feel important.  What a delight he was and always had something funny or positive to say.  We will miss you Tom.

Tom was my cousin and it's been a few years since I saw him, but I'll always remember his great sense of humor and his laugh. We'll all miss him, but he leaves a great family, a business that he enjoyed and lots of friends. Rest in peace.

My condolences go out to Tom Murray's family, his associates, and all of the wonderful people he has touched with his wonderful sense of humor, leadership skills, and business acumen. I first met Tom when he first started his first resort 9 years ago when I was staying in Scottsdale for a month and needed his services for my therapy dog Indy.  Indy got to ride in the front seat of his first van while all the other dogs rode in the back in kennels.  Tom and Theresa went on to attend one of my Train the Trainer sessions and sent several employees to my conference held in Scottsdale.  He truly was one of the most fabulous men I have ever had the opportunity to meet.  Indy had her picture taken her first year there at Christmas and her picture (with a wreath around her neck) was used for the following year's promotion of photos.  It is with unexpected sadness I see this news today.  I am in tears and my heart reaches out to all of you.  Please know that Indy and I will be praying for all of you and will be with you in thought and energy as you grieve the loss of this wonderful man.  I wish I would have been able to say one last good-bye to him.....but in retrospect that would have been much harder then the grief I am now feeling.  I know he looking over us from heaven....wanting us to love each other, care for our pets, and uplift and support each other to carry on his legacy.  In grief and prayer, Cindy Pautzke. I will miss Tom very much. He was a great friend to humans and animals.
He was there for me so many times I asked for help. There will always be a special place in my heart for him. Thoughts, prayers and (((hugs) to his family and friends.

Took my Rotties there many times to Villa La Paws. They even made dogs of the month. Great place for all dogs of any species and size. Great guy. Headed to Rainbow Bridge with lots of friends waiting.

Tom was an amazing businessman with a heart to match his level of business acumen.  I knew him when I was a kid as we were neighbors, and I babysat he and Jean's beautiful children.  I was then fortunate to meet him again as an adult when he purchased Villa La Paws.  What a big heart he had and most recently extended it to a feral dog my co-workers and I rescued from the streets.  The dog, Faith, is now being fostered at Villa La Paws where she is learning to trust and love so we can find her a long term home.  When I asked Tom how much it would be to have Faith fostered, he said "Nothing.  This is what we do for animals."  Thank you, Tom.  You will be missed by all- two and four-legged.
