Valerie grew up a happy child she enjoyed so many things in life like camping, fishing, horseback ridin, and going to the movies. When she was 4 years old, she went to see Jaws it scared so bad she threw her popcorn up in the air but go figure as an adult she loved to watch shark documentaries and loved the ocean. She loved dressing up for Halloween, playing softball, going to Disneyland and playing in the sand at the beach. At the age of 6 she went on her first Diabetic Bike-a-Thon 16.5 miles, but she of course was on the same bike as her dad.
Valerie grew up listening to 60’s and Motown music at the age of 14 she went to her first concert she went to see the 4 tops and the Temptations, (unfortunately her first concert was with her parents). Her second concert was the New Kids on the Block which she was forced to go to because this was the only way her younger sister could go. So poor Valerie her initial concert experiences weren’t the greatest.
As an adult she liked going to the park playing Pokémon Go, she loved on-line shopping, going out to eat. She enjoyed watching Judge Judy, Ghost Adventures, all crime shows and anything Star Wars related.
She loved watching and went to ALL her daughter’s softball games. She was a collector of Star Wars knickknacks but an avid collector of Barbies in which she had over a 100 of them in her collection her family always knew what to buy her for Christmas. Besides loving her 3 children she had love for animals especially her dogs Harley, Hercules and Xena.
In 2016 Valerie suffered a stroke and due to this in the following months and years she began to slow down as a result. But she was a fighter, and having diabetes started to take a toll on her frail body.
The Lord finally said enough pain and suffering I’ve come to take you home. On that day so many hearts were broken, and many tears fell. The pain will ease with time and the tears will stop because we will always have all the wonderful memories of her.
A memorial service for Valerie will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Greer-Wilson Chapel, 5921 West Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85033.
