

Vernon Dillard Carr, 80, of Phoenix, passed away January 13, 2014 in his Phoenix, Arizona home. Informal Viewing for family was held at A.L. Moore Grimshaw on W. Bethany Home Rd, Phoenix on January 18, 2014 at 4:00 pm. The host is Matthew Willhelm. Funeral service will be held at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills Memorial Park in California on January 24, 2014 at 3:00 PM with the memorial park reverend officiating. Burial and final resting place will follow. Forest Lawn is handling the funeral arrangements.Vernon was born in Los Angeles to Jess and Bessie Carr on March 29, 1933. He went to high school at Glendale High School and graduated in 1951. He went on to earn a degree in business management from Glendale College. He worked for Miller Brewing and later become Vice President General Manager of a large distributor for 40+ years. He was involved in the Rotary and many significant charities of Phoenix. He enjoyed fishing, football, swimming, the outdoors especially the beach, continual learning, and loved reading during quiet times. Vernon was a person of real character and devoted to his family; he had a generous heart, and was always giving to others. Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur (Mack) and Bessie Brown; his wife, Barbara; and one sister Yvonne (William) Masters. Vernon is survived by sons Jeffery and Michael (Nicola) Carr; Dan Gibson; daughters Deborah Carr and Tia (John) Wilson; five grandchildren, Joseph Herrick; Robin Herrick; Michael Wilson; John Wilson; and William Carr; and great-grand children, Makenna; Mason; and newborn great-granddaughter Maeveri Herrick.
