

William Everett Pendergrass, 94, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away April 30, 2011. He was born in Hempstead, Texas and had been a proud resident of Arizona for the last 75 years. William and his late wife, Gwen, who preceded him in death, were married for nearly 69 years. He was a veteran of the US Army in WWII. Having spent 35 years as a surveyor, engineer, and designer with the US Government, he had a hand in creating many of the roads in Arizona located in its national parks and monuments. He is survived by sons Dean and David of Chandler, Arizona and daughter Carol of McDermott, Nevada, as well as eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, May 6, 2011 at 9:00 AM at the LDS Church located at 2300 W. Javelina, Mesa, AZ 85202. Visitation begins at 8:30. Interment will be conducted at 9:30 AM on Monday, May 9 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix. Arrangements under the direction of Carr-Tenney Mortuary, Tempe, AZ.
