Alvin Southerland

Reverend Alvin Southerland, age 87, husband of the late Lyda Virginia Hendricks Southerland went to be with the Lord Tuesday December 22, 2015 at his home. Mr. Southerland was born in Pickens County son of the late Minnie Lewis Southerland and Elighue Southerland.

Rev. Southerland was a builder and a member of Gilead Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters; Elaine Porter (Gene) of Pickens, Virginia Richardson (Terry) of Illinois, Tammy Harrand (Leonard) of Michigan, Mitzi Jones (Larry) of Taylors, three sons; Randall Alvin Southerland of Wisconsin, Gregory Southerland (Marie) of North Carolina, Rodney Southerland (Sue) of Mauldin, daughter in law Kaye Southerland of Greenville, one brother and five sisters, twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday December 26, 2015 from 12:30pm to 2:00pm at Gilead Baptist Church with Funeral Service to follow at 2:00pm in the church sanctuary.

Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Garden.

Predeceased by his wife, parents, one son Michael Wayne Southerland, one brother Brandon Southerland and one sister Dorothy Hudson.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the missions at Gilead Baptist Church, P.O. Box 464, Pickens SC 29671.

The family will be at the home of his daughter Elaine Porter.
