Mrs. Benton was born in Trenton, New Jersey, on January 12, 1946, to the late Gerald Joseph and Marie Alice Judson Girard. She was a faithful member of Easley Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Benton was always on the go, out looking for new adventures. When she wasn't out and about, you could find her knitting, cooking, reading, and sewing. She liked to think of herself as an amateur Egyptologist.
Mrs. Benton is survived by her daughter: Marielena Petruska ("Mr. Fabulous" Brian); Marielena's father, Danny Geller; stepchildren Timothy Benton (Treesa) and Charity Mechelle Benton Walker (Adam) and their children; sister-in-law Barbara Benton; her dear friends: Judy Reutter, Tim Bishop, Peri Bush, Sharon Moon, Geri Stenzel, Carla Wall, Markola Mclaughlin, Charlie Grigg; her favorite house guest, Billy Goodman; and her special groups of ladies: The Knitsie Chicks and the Spartanburg Knitting Guild.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on January 08, 2026, in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:45 to 10:45 AM in the Garden room.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Cherie’s love of animals be honored by donations being made to the Pickens County Humane Society 500 Five Forks Road Liberty, SC 29657.
