Ms. Hayes was born in Pickens, South Carolina, on January 28, 1933, to the late William and Gladys Breazeale.
A talented cook, Ms. Hayes took great pride in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. In her spare time, she skillfully crafted beautiful quilts and tended to a vibrant garden, full of both flowers and vegetables. Her remarkable green thumb brought life and beauty to her surroundings.
She is survived by her son Leon Hayes; a niece that she loved like her own daughter, Judy Harrelson; brothers, Roger and Kenneth Breazeale; and sister, Elizabeth Collins.
Ms. Hayes was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Hayes; parents William and Gladys Breazeale; and siblings Waldo, Curtis, Donald, Herbert, Charles, Stanley, and Laura Grant.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, South Carolina, 29671. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in Dillard’s Chapel. A committal service will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, South Carolina 29671, following the funeral.
