Dorothy Sumerel Stephens, 84, of Easley went home to be with The Lord on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson. Mrs. Stephens was born in Laurens County, a daughter of the late Rhett and Mamie Ramey Sumerel. She was a homemaker and very active in ministry to the deaf. Survivors include her daughter, Diane Jameson (Doyle) of Easley and her son, Mitchell Stephens (Dianne) of Kingsport, TN, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Joyce Smith (Olen) of New Mexico and brother, Jerry Sumerel (Tonya) of Concord, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2PM Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens with funeral services following at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel with The Reverend Phil Henry and Dr. Pam Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens. The family will gather at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Diane and Doyle Jameson in Easley.
