

Floyd was born on January 21, 1942, in Pickens County, son of the late Floyd Thomas Cox, Sr. and Edna Reeves Cox. Floyd graduated from Pickens High School in 1960 with a full football scholarship. He enrolled at the University of South Carolina, and played running back on the football team. He graduated college in the year 1964 with a Bachelors degree in engineering. Floyd was a fun person to be around and enjoyed living life to the fullest. He shared a friendly rivalry with his family, considering he was the only Gamecock in a house full of Clemson Tiger fans. He liked to read and travel and was a Mason and Shriner. Floyd's favorite pastime consisted of listening to Blues or Jazz music in one of his antique cars. He was of the Baptist faith and a United States Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Bonnie Cox; one son, Bryan Cox (Deana) of Greenwood; one step-son, Daniel McCollum of Easley; one step-daughter, Shana Gray (Joey) of Liberty; one brother, Jimmy Cox (Susan) of Belton; seven grandchildren, Caitlyn Gray, Caleb Gray, Emily McCollum, Abree McCollum, Dustin Lewis, Zachary Cox and Abigail Cox; one great-grandson, Brenton Reece; two nephews, Jay Cox and Andrew Cox. Floyd was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lesley Lewis; one granddaughter, Chelsea Lauren Gray and two sisters, Doris Reynolds and Sharon Cox.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
