

Heyward was born in Pickens, South Carolina, on October 2,1945 to the late Raeford and Florence Byers. He was the loving husband of 33 years to Mrs. Diane Byers. Heyward proudly served in the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing and spending time with his great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Heyward is survived by his daughter: Janet (Tommy) Pack; honorary son and daughter: Curtis (Cortney) Reece; granddaughter: Megan (Michael) Wilson; grandson: Alan McKeon; six great grandchildren: Lexi Howard, Hailey Wilson, McKenna Nalley, Leah Nalley, Colton Wilson, Addie McKeon; sister Wanda Robertson; and two fur babies: Trixie and Bella.
In addition to his parents, Heyward was preceded in death by a brother in law Danny Robertson.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donation to be made to Neighborhood Cancer Connection located at 113 Mills Ave Greenville SC 29605 or Prisma Health Cottingham Hospice House located at 390 Keowee School Road Seneca SC 29672.
A memorial service will be held at Gap Hill Church of God on June 22, 2025 at 4:00 PM.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
