

Pickens – James Otis Hendrix, 65, passed from this life on Monday February 13, 2017 at his home. He was known to his family as “Big Brother.” Otis was born in Transylvania County, NC, son of James Edward Hendricks of Pickens and the late Edna Lee Aiken Hendrix. He was retired from TTI (formerly Ryobi) in Pickens after nearly 50 years of service. Otis was a member of Midway Baptist Church. He was an avid collector and was a true outdoorsman where he loved to hunt and fish, ride motorcycles with his friends and go four wheeling in the woods. Survivors include his father, James E. Hendricks, sisters, Linda S. Nations (Larry Hahn) of Greenville, Susie Sutherland (Preston) and Cathy Young (Bobby) all of Six Mile, and Theresa Thomason of Fletcher, NC and his most special friend, Ruth Sloan of Dacusville. Although Otis never had children of his own, he is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews that he considered his own. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Douglas Hendrix and Jimmy Dean Hendrix. The family will receive friends at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM Friday, February 17, 2017 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens. The family will gather at the home of his father, James Hendricks.
