James was born in Columbus Ohio, on January 3, 1938 to the late Charles and Pauline Newcomb. He enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, eating, and spending time with his late wife, Carolyn Newcomb.
James is survived by his two sister-in-laws: Edith Sherlin and Nelda Webb; one brother-in -law: John Owenby; and three half brothers.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years Carolyn Owenby Newcomb.
