

Born on October 18, 1942, he was the son of the late William Wilson Jr. and Wynell Hall Wilson. He was a devoted member of Griffin Baptist Church until his health declined. He worked in management at Blanchard Machinery for over 20 years and retired to work on his farm and his home. He enjoyed raising horses and tending to his animals especially his dogs, Bonnie and Teddy. He had a special appreciation for being outdoors but above all, spending time with his family and creating memories they will cherish forever.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Gail Knighton Wilson; son, Laverne "Buster" Drawdy; daughter, Sarah Drawdy; daughter, Anita Kay Carson (Alan); daughter, Sue Lynn Wood; daughter-in-law, Melony Drawdy; daughter-in-law, Revonda Wilson; grandchildren: Cory Drawdy (Reba), Cody Drawdy, Christian Drawdy, Tia Drawdy (Jon), Ashton Wilson, Aleasha Jimenez (Johnny), Nicole Gibson (Noah), Brianna Linares-Lopez (Leo), Allie Wilson, Glenn Wilson, Paul Wood, James Wood; 23 great-grandchildren; and sister, Peggy Bridges.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sons, Marvin Allen Drawdy and Adam Wilson; grandson, Stewart Carson and granddaughter, Brandy Wilson.
A visitation for James will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, South Carolina 29671. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with a committal service to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
