Jerry Charles Newman

Jerry was born in Kansas, to the late Paul and Mary Newman. Jerry has always appreciated the outdoors, enjoying scuba diving, snow skiing, boating and motorcycling. He fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and eventually retired from Aeronautical Engineering to Anacortes with his wife. Jerry loved all types of music and he relished any chance to dance. While he loved adventure in the outdoors, he was equally satisfied sitting on his porch, relaxing with friends and family and a glass of wine. He was well-read, incredibly intelligent, and known for his dry sense of humor. More than anything, he loved and was fiercely loyal to his family.

Jerry is survived by his wife: Gladys; daughter: Yvette McKenzie; son: Vaden Newman; and granddaughters: Whitney More and Taylor More James.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his siblings: William, Hippy, Pat, and Vera Marie; and granddaughter: Sydney More.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Friday, February 17, 2023 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:15 PM prior to the service.

While flowers are welcome, the family encourages donations in lieu of flowers to either the Alzheimer’s Association Greenville South Carolina (alz.org/sc) or Hilltop of Greenville Memory Care ([email protected]).
