

Born on April 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Claude Merck and Joycie Merck.
A devoted member of Gap Hill Church of God for over 60 years, she served as a Sunday School teacher, sharing her deep faith and love of God with the children she taught. She loved to cook, preparing many meals that brought her family together around the table creating memories they will cherish. She spent time tending to her flowers and her garden, enjoyed traveling and loved her pets. She instilled strong values in her grandchildren through her competitive spirit, teaching them that you do not win unless you truly earn it.
Marlene is survived by one daughter, Tina Batson (Mitchell); one son, Terry Harrison (Priscilla); four grandchildren: Brandon Batson, Courtney Baker (Austin), Sloan Harrison (Lesley), Sydney Harrison; one great grandchild Finn Baker; three brothers: Johnny Merck (Joann), Melvin Merck, and Gary Merck (Vonda). She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cherished neighbors who became a part of her family Rodney, Jennifer, and Brooke Ellenburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Doyle Harrison; her infant daughter Mira Diane; siblings: C.F. Merck, Leotta Grace Merck, Emma Lee Duncan, Milas Merck, and Karen Adams.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with a committal service to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
