

Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Bivens Singleton, 89, wife of William C. “Billy” Singleton, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. Mrs. Singleton was born in Pickens, daughter of the late Allen Watson and Kathleen Virginia Price Bivens. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church. Mrs. Singleton loved to knit, work crossword puzzles, watch western movies and in earlier days play golf. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Singleton was a graduate of Pickens High School, attended Mary Baldwin College and graduated from The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Billy Singleton of the home, daughters, Susan Singleton Houston (Terry Dean) of Easley, and Cynthia Kathleen “Cass” Singleton Smothers (Thomas Garland Smothers, Jr.) of Bradenton, FL and son, Henry Allen “Hal” Singleton (Lisa Aiken) of Pickens. Grandchildren include Edwin Scott Houston (Kathy) of Taylors, Victor Carlton Singleton (Cindy) of Greenville, Karen Ashley Houston of Charlotte, NC, Trey Allen Singleton of San Francisco, CA, Kenna Dillard (Mike) of Pickens, Todd Moore of Pickens, and Brent Moore (Jennifer) also of Pickens and great grandchildren, Price Dillard, McKenzie Moore and Brayden Moore. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Singleton was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Bivens Dillard. A memorial service will be held, 1 PM Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church in Pickens. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor.
