William Morris Abercrombie

William Morris Abercrombie, 98, of Six Mile, SC went to Heaven on July 5th at home in the presence of his beloved sons. Born July 2, 1927, he was the son of the late William Henry and Viola Stone Abercrombie.

The husband of the late Mildred Ellenburg Abercrombie, he is survived by two sons, Stoney (Donna) Abercrombie of Anderson, SC and Jeffrey Abercrombie of Six Mile, SC. He also leaves five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren to cherish his memory.

He retired from Ryobi in Pickens, SC after a 43-year career. A veteran of the US Navy, he loved his country.

A faithful Christian gentleman, he held multiple positions at Gap Hill Church of God. He was always available to serve in any capacity when a need arose. His family and community respected this quiet, humble and faithful servant of God.

A strong supporter of Volunteers in Medical Missions, he started a scholarship in memory of his wife. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Mildred Abercrombie MOMS Scholarship at www.vimm.org or 265 South Cove Road, Seneca, SC 29672.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 8th at Dillard’s Funeral Home Chapel, 2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, SC. Family will receive friends at 1:00 pm in the garden room.

A private family internment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park immediately after the service.
