

Mrs. Wilma P. McWhorter, 90, of Pickens, entered peacefully into heaven to be with her late husband, Walter Cecil McWhorter, on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Manna Health and Rehabilitation. Born on June 6, 1927, in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Hattie Porter Powell. Mrs. McWhorter was a member of Cannon Mountain Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Sangamo. She enjoyed cooking and camping and loved her family dearly. She is survived by her two daughters, Evelyn Rackley (Jamie) and Renee McClain (Danny), both of Pickens; four grandchildren, India Rackley, Jennifer Green, Heather Hughes (Justin) and C.J. Rackley; two great-grandchildren, Jared and Brianna Green; three sisters, Bonnie Reeves, Patsy Duncan and Louise Duncan, and one brother, Wallace Powell. Mrs. McWhorter was also predeceased by nine brothers. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 11, 2017, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel at 2:30 p.m. with the Reverend Franklin Lesley officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
