Barbara J. Ralyea

Barbara Joyce Ralyea passed away peacefully on March 23, 2022. She was born July 1, 1935, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and spent her youth on the South Side surrounded by loving cousins, aunts, and uncles. Barbara graduated with a degree in nursing from Duquesne University and had a long career as a caring and compassionate registered nurse. While at Duquesne she met the love of her life, John. The two married in 1965. They lived in Buffalo, New York, and brought three treasured sons into the world. They relocated to Pittsburgh in 1979.

Barbara’s greatest joy was spending time with family and her many friends. She was a loving grandma and an avid reader of mysteries; she enjoyed traveling and shopping trips to the mall.

Barbara is survived by her three sons: John (Bridget), Paul, and B. Joseph (Laura) and five grandchildren:

John, Jeffrey, Kyle, Luke, and Kyra. She is preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, Anthony and Sophia Pieczynski, and her brother Kenneth.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Hwy., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 28, at 11 a.m. at St. Catherine of Sweden, 2554 Wildwood Rd., Allison Park, PA 15101 (PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH).
