

Betty Jane Thomson, 85, of McCandless, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026. Born September 2, 1940 to Virginia and Edwin Bauer. Betty is leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and quiet strength.
Betty was a cherished sister to Arthur Bauer, Dale Bauer (Joann), and Phillip Bauer (Jackie) She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred E. Thomson III, and her dear son, Darren D. Thomson. Survived also by her loving companion of 25 years Donald Lampus SR.
Betty was a devoted and loving mother to her sons, Alfred E. Thomson IV (Kelli Thomson) and David E. Thomson. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of six grandchildren: Zachary, Aidan, the late Connor, Gavin, Keegan, and Sterling.
Her family was the center of her world, and she dedicated her life to nurturing them with unwavering love, grace, and care.
A woman of many interests and talents, Betty found joy in her involvement with Meals On Wheels, North Hills Garden Club and in her work at the Passavant Hospital Gift Shop and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts Gift Store. She was also one of the founding members of the Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh Women’s Council, reflecting her commitment to community and connection.
Betty had a natural elegance and a deep appreciation for beauty in all its forms. She loved traveling, spending time with her dear friends, and expressing her creativity through cooking, fashion, decorating, and gardening. She also found great joy in music and dancing—moving through life with a spirit that was both poised and enduring.
She will be remembered for her warmth, her quiet strength, and the deep love she gave so freely to those around her. Her presence brought comfort, beauty, and joy, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
