Eleanor was born on April 12th, 1931 in Pittsburgh PA to the late Michael and Anna Bickel. She was the last of the Bickel clan and the baby of 7 siblings - Charlie, Marie, Mike, Rosie, Betty, Larry. Eleanor was the beloved wife of Lawrence J Steinmetz who preceded her in death in 2021. Together they shared 67 years of marriage and enjoyed spending weekends at camp. They also liked to travel to Florida to visit family and be on the beach. She is survived by 2 children Larry (Amy) and Lisa (Keith). She was the incredible Grandma of Zach (Megan), Nick (Leah), Lindsay (Chase), Jess (Samantha), Nicolette (Dylan). She was the incredible Gigi of Palmer, Beckham, Adelaide, Brody, Koah, and Chloe. These children were the love of her life. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends. She loved baking chocolate chip cookies and banana nut bread. You were hardly able to leave her house without taking some with you. She loved her family and would drop anything for last minute plans to be together. She faithfully prayed and read her bible trusting in the truth of its Word. Eleanor loved the Lord and lived her life as a reflection of His grace. Because of our shared faith in Jesus, I take comfort knowing that this goodbye is not forever Mom. I will see you again in Heaven when there is no more pain, only joy and reunion in His presence. We would like to say a very special thank you to Family Hospice of UPMC.
