

Franklin A. Preuss, 79 of Ross Twp., passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016. Frank was born on January 1, 1937 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was the youngest son of the late Martha and Arnold Preuss. He was a graduate of Valparaiso University, class of 1959. He then went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Sanitary Engineering from the University of California, Berkley.
After graduation, Frank toured Mexico where he met Mary in La Iglesia Luterano del Buen Pastor, Mexico City. Frank and Mary married the next spring, at Heinz Chapel at the University of Pittsburgh.
Frank in the first phase of his career worked in Accra, Ghana for the World Health Organization. The following year, Frank and Mary came back to the U.S., where Frank joined U.S. Steel doing civil engineering and architecture across the globe, including an assignment to Madrid, Spain. Frank also worked for Baker Engineering and retired from Eichleay Engineering.
For many years, Frank and Mary were active members of Berkeley Hills Lutheran Church in the North Hills. Later, they joined First English Lutheran Church of Pittsburgh, where Frank greatly enjoyed this fellowship. He served as a lector and greeter, and also worked on the Property Committee.
He is survived by his wife Mary; brother Rolland (Sharon) Preuss and niece and nephews, Eric, Brian, Lisa and Craig. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a sister, Shirley Bayles.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the HP Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Hwy, Ross Twp., 412-364-4444.
