

Age 100, entered eternal life at his daughter’s home at Chautauqua NY, September 3, 2021. The loving husband of the late Naomi F. (Taylor) McClellan married 75 years; daughters, Nancy (late Jeff) Leininger, Faith (Jerry) Woodward, Jane McClellan and son, Howard G (Ann); grandchildren, Jeffery C. (fiancé Erin), Jason J. (Jenna) Leininger, Kristen, Jenna, and Tyler Schmitz, Heather Loizides, Jordan (Mary) Gilbertsen; great-grandchild Reagan Loizides; and brother in law Edward Taylor. James was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh and a long time member of Memorial Park Church, Allison Park.
James became a centenarian on January 10, 2021. Born in Buchhannon, West Virginia and raised on a farm in Brookville, PA. He worked at this family's farm and bed and breakfast, "The Dew Drop Inn," from
a young age.
He served as a prime mover driver and machine gunner in the 755th Field Artillery Battalion 15th Field Artillery Regiment, on the front line in the Battle of the Bulge during World War ll. He earned three sharpshooter badges. Drafted in May 1943, when his son was 9 months old, and ended his service in December 1945 as corporal.
James worked retired as a senior buyer for Bessemer Lake Erie Railroad and U.S. Steel. He was a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church and served Pittsburgh's homeless through their walk-in ministry for 30 years. He loved the lord and read his bible 60 times.
