Janet (nee Krizmanich) Shearer Carney has been taken to heaven on Angel’s wings. Her last day was spent surrounded in the peaceful loving warmth of her family. Janet was retired from Shaler Area School District where she held many clerical positions at the Administrative Offices after having started working as a teacher’s aide at the Wilson Street Elementary School.
Janet is reunited with her husband Hughie Shearer, her son Tom Shearer and her sister Mary Ann Castello, each of whom predeceased her and were missed always. She is survived by her sister, Pammie (Wayne) Michaels, her sister in law Janet Shearer Lau, and brothers in law Tom Castello and Ab Duss.
Janet spent many years as the much loved matriarch of her family, and leaves behind three children, Gail Shearer, Saralynn Komoroski, and Gary (Cathy) Shearer. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as Mimi– Tim Komoroski, Mark (Alexis) Lawniczak, Kristina Komoroski, Jaclyn (Kenny) Reischmann, RJ (Sarah) Komoroski, and Gary (Nicole) Shearer. Janet was also blessed to meet 7 of her great grandchildren each of whom brought her great joy and many smiles.
Family was very important to Janet, and she loved spending time with her “extra” granddaughters from Gary’s blended family and many nieces and nephews, especially her casino buddy Mary Hollern.
Janet and her family would like to thank Hope Hospice and Dr. Aaron Smuckler for their wonderful care and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 6, 2024 at 11am at the Berkely Hills Lutheran Church on Sangree Road. All who knew Janet and her family are welcome to come and join the celebration of her life with lunch immediately following.
