On Saturday, January 21, 2012, Kurt Joseph, 60, of Brookline, Beloved husband of Ruth (Rollins) Hassenstein; Son of the late Edwin L. Hassenstein, Jr. & Inez (Lynch) Dee; brother of Edwin L. Hassenstein III of Tuscon, AZ, Carol H. (Paul) Redelheim of Nashville, TN, E. Lorenz (Christina) Hassenstein of Ridgefield, CT and Robert W. (Helen) Dee of Tampa, FL; Also survived by several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law of Jim and Sue Stanko of Bethel Park. Kurt was a retired U. S Navy Veteran who served on the USS Independence near Beirut, Lebanon and the USS Ft. Snelling. Upon his retirement he was employed by the VA Hospital System from 1994 – 2010. A Blessing service will be held at the GRIFFITH MORTUARY, INC., 5636 Brownsville Road, Broughton-Curry-South Park Twp., on Wednesday at 10 AM. Donations may be made in Kurt’s memory to American Lung Association.
