Hi Scotty, it's mom.  It's Christmas morning and I am sitting at the table thinking of you.  The pink candle on the advent wreath had a flame much higher than the others and it grabbed my attention; I felt your presence.  It's the shepherd's candle, a beautiful theme in our family from your grandfather's sharing of his beloved operetta, Amahl and the Night Visitors.  
This pink candle symbolizes the joy of the coming of Christ into our homes and our lives and for me I will think of it as the joy of being 
with you again.  I miss you every day., but I know that you are well taken care of in your heavenly home. Thank you for visiting me today and reminding me of joy and the expectation of things to come.

I only met Scotty a few times, but he was always nice and seemed really smart. Sorry for your loss.

Dear Robin and Chris,

I'm extremely sad and shocked about the untimely death of your son, Robin. There is no greater loss than that of a child, even if he already was a young man. It's like a candle blown out in the wind...

I am thinking of both of you and your remaining children who will also have to cope with this tragic incident...and I wish you strength to conquer the hurting sadness maybe some time in the future in favor of the loving memories you can share with all those whose life he has touched in his short lifespan.

So sad that we've lost Scotty at such a young age. The tragedy of death is not death itself, it the lost of life yet to be lived. For all of those that called him son, brother, cousin, or friend we offer our deepest sympathies and mourn with you. May Scotty rest in peace. Amen
