I taught with Bob at Shady Side Academy and he sat at the desk right behind mine in the science office.   He was a great person with a very witty but dry sense of humor.  I have many wonderful memories of him and I think about him often.

Bob was not only my fellow classmate at Avalon HS & Pitt but a dear friend.  Many fond memories of our youth together come flooding back.
He was REMARKABLY intelligent & incredibly witty.  He loved all sports and had a marvelous memory for sports statistics.
I was deeply saddened to hear this news and will truly miss him.

I am saddened to hear of Bob's passing.  We were very good friends in high school and had many good times together.  Even though we had drifted apart and I had not talked to him in years, I still feel a sense of loss.  Bob was one of the most brilliant men I have ever known.  We used to go to Westinghouse Research for seminars on Saturday and Bob would scan the transcript before the presentation and he would be able to tell you each topic prior to presentation.  He was very humorous (he preferred dry wit like Steve Allen) and quite insightful.  Very knowledgeable about sports.  Bob, Rich Hocevar and I were best friends and, among other things, we had a regular card night at his house.  His mother was quite gracious and made all his friends feel right at home.  She was a teacher at Assumption when I was a student there.  Bob, Rich and I all went to Pitt although I only had one class with him as he was in liberal arts and I was in engineering.  Later, Caldwell joined the Pitt gang.  As I write this, all the memories come flooding back to me ... 

I will always remember my old friend.

Mr. McGinnis was brilliant, funny and caring.

Bob was a patient , as was his mother, for a long time at my husband's dental practice.  I work there also and enjoyed talking with Bob.  He was a very kind, intelligent and interesting man.  We are sorry for you loss.

Mr. McGinnis was not only one of my favorite teachers the last year at Avalon HS, but he was my basketball mentor and friend. Spent many a lunch times learning basketball from Mr. McGinnis....and in the end learning more about life.  Thank you for being a part of my life.

My condolences to Mr. McGinnis' family and friends. I have fond memories of him from my 10th grade chemistry class at Northgate High School.
