

Age 75, of Wilkins Twp., passed away on Friday, May 21, 2010. The grandson of Portuguese General Miguel C. Dias, M.D. and son of Dr. Antonio F. and Maria Dias. The oldest of five brothers, "Rudy" was born in Portuguese Goa and was the first of his family to immigrate to the United States. Rudy came to Pittsburgh to study and graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology with a Masters Degree in civil engineering. He remained here to work and raise his family. A maverick in the steel industry, Rudy was responsible for the design of many of the nation's most innovative and productive steel mills. Rudy and his wife, Maria Celia Odette, made their life and home in Pittsburgh since 1964. Rudy is survived by Odette, his only son, Antonio, his daughter-in-law Amy Dias, and his grandsons, Nicholas and Taylor. He is also survived by his brothers and their wives Gilbert Nelson and Fernanda Dias, Miguel and Vira Dias, Dr. Raul and Dorothy Dias and Dr. Ernest and Maura Dias and his nephews and nieces. Family and Friends will be received on Monday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Twp., 412-364-4444. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Scholastica Church on Tuesday at 3:30 PM
