Susan A Affolder

Susan A Affolder, 66, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 17, 2026. Born August 25, 1959, Susan will be remembered with deep respect for a life marked by steadfast courage, plainspoken honesty, and a compassion that consistently put others first. Her strong work ethic was not only evident in what she built, but in the care and dignity she brought to those around her.

A 1977 graduate of North Allegheny High School, Susan carried forward a determined spirit and practical intelligence that would shape the course of her life and work.

Susan was a self made entrepreneur who owned and operated several establishments across the greater North Hills Area. She loved her work, and serving people was her passion—something she pursued with tireless dedication and a generosity of heart that made others feel seen and valued.

When she wasn’t working, Susan divided her time between her family and her hobbies, which included staining glass and enjoying nature. In these quieter pursuits, her steady devotion to what mattered most—time well spent, beauty made by hand, and simple moments outdoors—was gently, unmistakably present.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Elsie McLaughlin; her husband Charles Affolder; and her daughter Stephanie Affolder.

Susan is survived by her three siblings Mark McLaughlin (Cathy), Robin Claywell (Mike), and Mike McLaughlin (Linda); her son Cody Affolder (Kate); and her grandson Maddix Nakles.

Friends will be received at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home 1032 Perry Highway Pittsburgh PA 15237 Friday May 22nd from 2-8 PM.
