Betty Jean Boswell

Betty Jean Boswell a long time resident of El Dorado County passed away at 90 years old on July 5, 2024 in Placerville, California

Betty was born May 10, 1934 in Holtville, California to Edward and Velma Batemon. They moved to the Mt Aukum/Somerset area in 1939. As a child Betty would spend her summers at Elkins Flat, riding the Caldor railroad up with her mother, where they would meet up with her grandmother who was the cook there for the logging camp.

In 1950, she married Herman Boswell, who proceeds her in death. They had three children Victoria Boswell, Kathy (Boswell) Flaming, and Steve Boswell. She had five grandchildren eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Betty had many jobs throughout her life. She worked for the Placerville Fruit Growers packing fruit, harvested grapes and walnuts, spent some years working at Apple Hill, and she worked in the cafeteria at El Dorado High School. She also spent many years involved at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. She volunteered at the local voting polls. Betty was also a cake maker, making beautiful wedding and birthday cakes.

Betty enjoyed playing cards, painting, swimming, fishing, canning, gardening, and was an amazing seamstress. She was adventurous and loved the outdoors. Most of all, though Betty loved her family, always putting them first teaching them to live, laugh, and love. Her amazingly big heart, great laugh, and smile were one of a kind. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but Her spirit will live on through all the stories and wonderful memories she leaves behind.

Graveside services were held for Betty where she was laid to rest next to her husband on July 12 at Westwood Hills cemetery in Placerville California.
