January 4, 1951 to June 8,2025
Placerville, Ca
Cathleen Alice Hopper passed away in Patient Care at Roseville Kaiser Hospital on Sunday June 8th at 3am in the morning where family had been at her side throughout the day. I held her hand as she passed away and told her how much I loved her and how much I would miss her.
Born on January 4, 1951 at Samuel Merrit Hospital in Oakland, Ca., her childhood years were spent in Oakland with a majority of her time in Castro Valley, Ca.. She attended Castro Valley High School and attended one year in Junior College.
Cathy was an incredible person whose talents simply amazed me every day. Her knowledge about almost everything led me to seek her advice constantly and her ability to run a household was outstanding. From the grocery list to clothing, she kept all of us well fed and clothed and most importantly, if any problem arose, she was there to solve it. Her love of family was second to none. She always wanted a family and when we had ours, it made her life even more meaningful. Her cooking was second to none and always put a smile on our face resulting in a very happy family. We had two daughters Emily Hopper and Krissy Bennis. Krissy married Yan Bennis and they had two children Kylin and Eversyt Bennis.
In addition to family life, she had a professional career with the State of California at the Printing plant in Sacramento, Ca., Coastal Commission in San Francisco, Ca. and finally the PUC also in San Francisco, Ca.. She spent over 25 years at the PUC where she was one of the Human Resource Managers.
We retired in the foothills near Placerville, Ca and spent over 10 years living our dream together. She loved it there and spent countless hours on one of her favorite pastimes and that was scrapbooking. In addition, she also was a member of the American Sewing Guild where she spent countless hours working on clothing and other related items so they could be used by the less fortunate.
Unfortunately, cancer, after many years of treatment, was too much for her to overcome. She fought this terrible disease for as long as was humanly possible because of her love of family and friends. She wanted to stay alive and around them as long as possible.
She will always be loved and never forgotten.
