Cindy Savage, a resident of El Dorado Hills, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011. In attendance were her loving husband, children and close friends. Cindy was born in the Gulf Coast community of Appalachacola, Florida and was the daughter of Rick and Virginia Mills. She spent her childhood and teen years in beautiful Pensacola, Florida. While vacationing at Pensacola Beach she met her future husband, Marine Corps Second Lieutenant Rick Savage. She moved to San Diego, California to marry, begin a family and attend the University of California at San Diego. Cindy was a member of the UCSD women’s cross-country team, flew hang gliders at Torrey Pines and expressed an early interest in the mortgage business working part-time in the industry during college.
Two wonderful children arrived in the 1980’s and Cindy worked hard to support the needs and activities of her “military family” and to pursue a very successful mortgage banking career. Diagnosed with breast cancer Cindy fought bravely during a seventeen year period. Despite many painful procedures and years of chemotherapy Cindy never complained or lost hope. She was an outstanding wife and mother who always placed the needs of her family and friends first. During her recovery time Cindy enjoyed spending time growing organic vegetables and flowers, creating culinary masterpieces and practicing yoga.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother David. Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Rick, and her children, Angela and Nick. Cindy and her family greatly appreciated the efforts of all the physicians, nurses and the caring medical personnel who prolonged her life. Cindy will be dearly missed and her fighting spirit remembered.
