Darrell Hansen

Darrell Marcus Hansen of Placerville, beloved husband, father and grandfather, entered into rest on July 22, 2011. Darrell was born on July 7, 1927 to John S. and Gertrude (Grommesh) Hansen. Darrel grew up on a farm near Buffalo, N.D. and served in the Navy from 1945 to 1947. In 1950 Darrell married Joanne Verlinden, with whom he had six children. After moving to California in 1958, Darrell went to work for CalTrans, where he was employed for 30 years. Darrell loved traveling and camping with his wife and children, restoring old cars, and working in his woodshop. He is survived by his loving wife Joanne, and his children Georgina, Gail, Jerry, Jim, John, and Jayne and grandchildren Mirkan, Qio, Jax and Juliane. A Rosary, followed by a Memorial Mass, will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Placerville at 10:30 am, Friday, July 29, 2011. Darrell will be remembered as a wonderful person, husband and father. Family bonds were very important to him, and we love him and will miss him very much. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to St. Patrick’s Upper Room which provides hot meals daily to needy families. Please call the church office at (530) 622-0373.
