We met Debbie when our son married her daughter - Wendy.  We always looked forward to seeing her and Bob.  They were a terrific couple and outstanding grandparents.  She always took time to play with her grandchildren and made them a special part of her life.  She would be down on the floor with them building things or playing games and the laughter would light up any heart for miles around.  It didn't take long to see her love for life.  Always a warm smile, a kind word and a glow of happiness.  Some may say she lost her battle with cancer. We believe she was a winner.  She bravely stood strong, didn't allow it to destroy her inner self and when she was ready, she moved on in life's journey.  Though she will be missed by many, her love will always be with them.

My dearest "baby" cousin - where do I start? Even though you were 1,000 miles away, that didn't diminish our connection over they years. In fact it grew stronger when we became adults. For that I am so thankful! You were the youngest of the first generation of cousins, but in my opinion, the brightest light. Your sense of self, confidence and love of life were contagious. I especially admired your courage and spunk for the last few years while you were in the battle of your life. I have never, ever met anyone as strong as you! You gave it a good fight and I totally respect and support your choices. I so miss your laughter and your great sense of humor! You are loved by so many and so many of us are richer for having known you. Blessings and give our Moms a big hug when you get to Heaven!

I had the privilege of knowing Debbie & witnessing her love of nature & animals, her loyalty to her family and her fierce advocacy for improving the health care system. Her zest for life spilled into living her "bucket list" with her trips and adventures, especially these past few years. Toast Debbie with a Jimmy Buffet song and do something that makes you happy in her honor.

Our sincere condolences to Debbie's husband and family (Bud, Bill, and Mike).  We are so sorry to hear this news.  I did not realize she was only 3 years older than me.  I remember clearly her beautiful wavy hair when we visited in 1974 during her grand parents 50th wedding anniversary.  Unfortunately I had not seen her since the Thomas reunion near Chamberlin, SD about 14 years ago.  I know she will be dearly missed.   --Dan, Colleen, Alex, Megan, Eric Thomas  -  Everett, WA.

Debbie was a beautiful lady full of life and laughter. I enjoyed seeing her ride the quad up Maric road with a bottle of wine in her back pocket. I will miss her deeply and know she is all around us happy and free.

Dear Deb: You were the one who put the sunshine and sparkle in our little cousin group! Linda, Lynn, Billy, Mikie, Debbie and Bobby. I'm remembering those wonderful days we spent together as kids without a care in the world. The boys thought they could leave you in the dust not realizing that it couldn't happen...not then, or...ever. There are so many things I love, appreciate and admire about you... your beautiful curls and adorable giggle, the way you could work the crowd at a Thomas get-together, how much you loved your family, your dogs, your El Dorado home and husband Bob, how well you cared for and respected your mom when she was ill, and how couragiously you fought the cancer battle. I will miss you so much.

My grandma Debbie was one of the strongest people i knew and still know, she was always so full of joy and happiness no matter what. I know she is in a better place now and i hope wherever she is, she is still full of joy and happiness.

Debbie was the best grandma anyone could ever ask for. She was fun, very sweet, and it felt like I could tell her anything and she would always be there for me. I will always love her. Because she was and still is my hero.

Debbie-your love of life and your laughter will be missed! On a trip to visit Debbie & Bob -we got talked into took a rafting trip on the American River. The only one to fall overboard was Debbie-but she came up laughing & with her paddle in hand- and it was all captured on film!  Death leaves a heartache no one can heal-but love leaves a memory no one can steal.  Cheers to you girlfriend-- to good times-good wines-great friendship.  RIP

Debbie was the best grandma anybody could ever ask for.She was sweet,loving,and really caring, but now i know shes in a better place watching over all of us. I love you grandma

Debbie was one of the greatest people I had the privilege of knowing in my life. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed very much. She always enjoyed life to the fullest.

I couldn't have asked for a better mother in law than Debbie.  She was an absolute sweetheart in the purest sense of the word.  I will always remember her contagious laugh and her infectious smile.  She truly loved life and we were all thankful to be a part of hers.  We love you Debbie.

Debbie was such a wonderful woman. I loved her dearly. She was my second mom. I was able to tell her things, that I was to nervous to tell my dad.  I respected her, cherished her, trusted her, and confided in her. I am happy to know she is no longer suffering, and is at peace. I couldn't of asked for a better step mom and a better wife for my dad. Debbie completed this family. I love you very much Debbie!

Debbie was a great gal who my husband and I loved very much.  When her and Bob would come and visit we would have a blast.  She was a wonderful fun loving person and a great time to be around.  We have had the opportunity to visit the wine country in California and enjoy their home on different occasions.  Bob would visit us once a year to enjoy pheasant hunting in South Dakota.  We also went on a Caribbean Cruise in January and had a great time.  She will by missed by my husband and I.  We know she is in a better place now.  She never had a bad word to say about anybody and always had a positive attitude through her recent fight with cancer.  We will miss you so much Debbie!  Patti and Joe Bruggeman.
