Dennis was born in Goshen, Indiana, the second of three children, to William and Lorraine Peek. Shortly, thereafter, the family moved to Saginaw, Michigan where the family lived until Dennis was a teenager. He was considered a good child and was given work that he was capable of doing that was a part of various family businesses, from an early age. He graduated from Bridgeport High School and then joined the U. S. Navy where work and education in the growing field of electronics set a course for his life work with Lockheed, working in Burbank, CA, Canada, Marietta, GA and Fort Worth, TX for 30 years.
At the outset of his Naval duty, Dennis married, and had two children, Kristina and Dennis Jr., both born in San Diego, CA.
In 1990, Dennis married Tamara Klatt, daughter of Craig and Judy Klatt, to whom he would have been married 25 years this June. To this marriage, there were added three additional children, Victoria, Brandon and Joshua.
Following his career with Lockheed Martin, the Peek family moved to Camino in 2010, where Dennis gained employment with Marshall Hospital in Central Services, a job that Dennis really enjoyed because of the important work that Marshall does and the opportunity it gave him to connect with many new people in that service system. Being helpful, was a natural part of who he was.
During his battle with cancer, Dennis was extremely grateful for the significant level of care that he received from local doctors, nurses and staff that committed themselves to his comfort and care. This also included a serious effort on the part of the Staff at UCSF in San Francisco that lent their expertise to his care. The final touch of support from the personnel of the Snowline Hospice was very special as well.
Dennis’s passing leaves a hole in the heart’s of his wife, Tamara, daughter Kristina Fondren, Navy, (John) Air Force, son Dennis Peek Jr., daughter, Victoria Peek, sons, Brandon Peek, Air Force and Joshua Peek, Grandson Jayden and step-grand daughter Jadyn. In addition, his mother, Lorraine (Jerry) Hatfield and his sister Diana Swain (Jim) and nephews, nieces and cousins.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, William Peek and his sister Deborah Cricks and brother-in-law Patrick Cricks Sr.
A Memorial service will be held at the Camino Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3520 Carson Rd. Camino, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015.
