Donald H. Haas passed away peacefully in his Pollock Pines home on September 19, 2011 after a long illness. Don is survived by his wife Deb of 34 years, his son Jeff (Victoria) Haas of Elk Grove and daughter Sarah Haas of Sacramento. Don is the grandfather of Hailee and Brianna and is also survived by his brother Robert of Scotts, MI and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was born in Kalamazoo, MI on Sept. 12, 1942 and graduated from Climax-Scotts High School in Mich. and Santa Rosa Junior College. He went on to serve honorably in the US Army for 3 years and then retired after 23 years of service as a Deputy Sheriff for the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. He was a proud member of the American Legion of Placerville and the National Rifleman Assoc. Known for his infectious humor, Don was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He loved traveling, antiquing, spoiling his granddaughters, working on his property and fishing.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 27th at 12 Noon at the Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville. Interment, Westwood Hills Memorial Park, Placerville.
