

Edmund and Barbara Zigelhofer, ages 88 and 80, of Placerville passed away on October 13, 2010 after a fatal motor vehicle accident on Hwy. 50 outside of Placerville, CA. Edmund was born in Derby, CO on March 26, 1922 to Charles and Jessie (Erfurth) Zigelhofer. In 1936 he moved to Southern California and then to Northern California in the early 1940s. Ed attended Palo Alto High School. He then entered the Army serving his country during WWII. In 1989, Edmund and his wife relocated to Placerville, Mr. Zigelhofer enjoyed driving cars, camping, fresh water fishing, and especially spending time with his family. He was a member of the Parkinsons’ Association in Placerville. Barbara was born in Napa, CA on November 16, 1929 to Benjamin and Ruth (Lockie) Postal. She was a manager for many years of the cafeteria for the Palo Alto Unified School District. Mrs. Zigelhofer loved playing pinochle, cooking, and tending to her flowers. Barbara was a member of the El Dorado County Historical Society and the Gold Dust Geneaology Association. Mr. and Mrs. Zigelhofer had been happily married for over 62 years. They are survived by 2 sons; Randy (Kathy) and Ron, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren; Edmund’s sister, Jessie Briggs and her husband George; Barbara’s sisters, Patricia Doren, Genevieve Fisher, and Sharon Carlson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Edmund and Barbara WILL BE MISSED by all who knew them!!! A private family “Celebration Of Life” was held on Saturday, October 16, 2010. A private inurnment will be at Westwood Hills Cemetery, Placerville. Donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Charity Of Donor’s Choice.
