Gene was our favorite go to person for all our hot tub needs. We loved chatting with him and petting his dog. May he be living the spirit realm.

We first met you at GVCC and the gym, but what I miss most is our conversations as we waited for our spa  (thanks Covid), and later stopping in for supplies, trusted advice, encouraging words, and a greeting from Vinnie.  You are missed.

Gene was one of the kindest people I've ever met. He was always quick with a smile and a joke, and we found it was almost impossible to be in a bad mood around him. Gene was a wonderful neighbor and he always had a kind word for our kids. Though we will miss him greatly, we know he is in God's care in heaven.

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face.

There is no one like Gene.  Such a tender-hearted person who showed us his heart. 
I met Gene coincidentally 2 years before his passing on February 14th, 2022. 
He needed some help and I too needed help, him with taking some of the burden off of him and me with filling my time with purpose. 
During this time, we got to chat a lot and we mostly talked about life and how to make it better. He was always eager to learn something new and he really reflected on it and made changes. 
This past 6 or so months he was taking more time off for himself and finally felt ok doing it. 
We talked a lot about his daughter and friends over the years, he had a great group of people around him that he truly enjoyed and loved. 
Vinnie and my dog Frankie ignored each other, but I know they liked each other. Every week we would drive up and wonder if he would be waiting for us and when he was, it was a very exciting event! Lol
Gene had many looks and I saw quite a few of them but my favorite was when he smiled that kind smile. 😊
I am missing him so much and there is a huge void where he once was. Frankie looks at me oddly now at times, he is confused that we have not been there, it has been a shock to both of us. 
Thank you for being such a great friend to me, I will never forget you, Gene. Rest in Peace my dear friend.  You’ll always be a 5 Star Review!! 😉

Hello everyone, my name is Ginger Elizabeth Hirakawa 2 years 8 months old girl dog. I’ve known Gene and Vennie since I was a puppy. My dad and I saw them at the elementary school in front of Sonoma park. After that, my parents took me to the park and I had  a lot of friends. Recently I don’t go to the park because I prefer walking instead of fetching. But I sometimes saw them at Morrison Creek in the mornings. I loved Gene so much. As soon as he saw me, he called out “GINGER “ with holding his arms. When he rode a bike, I chased him and he ran away. Even though Vennie didn’t care about me, I always thought he was very cool 😎. So I always wanted to imitate him. When he got a stick, I did but he always took mine, and Gene always gave me new one. My parents and I were looking forward to seeing them in the morning walkings. I can’t believe they were not here anymore. We love Gene and Vennie. Rest in peace Gene. Vennie, have a good life!

Words can’t describe how great Gene was. He was one of my best friends, a genuine soul. Gene was always there for everyone. He would help strangers and had the biggest heart of any person I know. I could talk to Gene about anything and we would both make each other laugh. Dogs brought us together. Chispa and Oso will miss Uncle Gene. I think about Gene everyday and miss his words, his laugh. I am so thankful to have my last memories in person with him enjoying each others company. I will miss Gene dearly and will never forget how wonderful he was.  He was truly special. A life taken too soon. Please watch over us Gene. Love, Flora

Dated 6/7/23 Gene and different dog owner neighbors would meet up at the neighborhood park in the evenings. This was a video that was captured because we were making jokes about Jörg cleaning up after a dog. Gene’s joking and laughing in the background can be heard. Evenings in the neighborhood park will never be the same without Gene.

Dated 9/27/22 Gene was over at his neighbor Jorg’s house. We were dog sitting and were told the dog doesn’t like men. She clearly was around Gene and enjoying the attention he gave her.

This was Gene!  Easy to laugh,  ready for fun,  a great friend and so very missed!
