He was a superstar and shared 45 years of his life with me. And then one day, he was gone. The Dr. Said it was a little brain bleed. He left us that warm day in August. He had two daughters, Jessica Staton and Brooke Staton/ Schween and three grandchildren, Riley, Roslynn and Vince.  His dad had taught him to be a sign painter and over the years he became a graphic artist and owned Staton Sign Co. In Pollock Pines, CA.
He loved his life in the mountains and built three homes over the years. To this day you can find signs that George had done throughout the county.  He is missed by all who loved him, especially me  his loving wife.

For over 44 years this man was my husband, my best friend, my muse. He loved  lived and worked hard right up until the day he died. He was fine one day and suffered a stroke the next. The stroke ended his life but not his story. He was loved by his daughters and his three grandkids. He is missed by his sisters and his brother. And he has left me to try and finish all that he spent a lifetime building. I'm can't even pretend to be the graphic artist he was. You can find his signs all over el dorado county. I can't  be the colorful and generous  man he was so good at being. He is missed by so many. And I will never be the mentor he was to his grandkids. He tried to show them that honesty, love and faith  would be all they need live a full and happy life. But I will always know that he was my hero, my strength and the muse who made me smile.

George I never had the honor of meeting you face to face.  However, you married Fern, which tells me you are  something pretty special.  Just looking at the pictures of you,  you two are the epitome of being made for one another, absolutely!!  Since, I have known Fern since high school, I feel like I have known you as long, just looking at your pictures, your truck, your sign making business (I, too, do the same, among other adventures!) and your love for Fern and for your generosity and caring so much about your community!  Don't worry about Fernie, she has so many that love her, we will watch over her, for sure.  And, just wait, we will meet  eventually on another plane!  God's speed.......

George was my friend.  I can hear his voice taking my sign order, discussing his grandkids, solving the worlds problems or just saying hello Mr. Mathews.  His distinctive voice well be missed.  Sandy and I are truly sad and Fern, we wish you peace .
