

Gerhardt F. Burk (Jerry) passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30 at Mercy San Juan Hospital. He was 88 years old and was married to the love of his life, Bonnie, for 64 years. Jerry was a resident of Placerville, CA for 45 years. He was a father of 4 and had 5 grandchildren.
Jerry was a committed follower of Christ, and a longtime member and Lead Usher at First Lutheran Church, in Placerville. He was known by all there for his great smile and warm hugs. He lived his life for God and is with him now.
Jerry was born and raised in Paso Robles, CA. He entered military service in the Navy and served with pride in the Pacific during the Korean War. He met his wife Bonnie near the end of his service with the Navy while in port in San Diego, CA. After being discharged he returned to San Diego and he and Bonnie were soon married.
They settled in San Luis Obispo and began their family there. Jerry joined Bank of America and enjoyed a 35-year career with the company, spending most of his time in Operations and Branch management in northern California. He retired from the position of Vice President and Branch Manager of the Placerville branch of the bank. Jerry obtained his Realtor License and worked in the local Coldwell Banker office for a few years before fully retiring in 1993.
During Jerry’s leisure time he thoroughly enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Cold Springs Country Club for many years. He also spent many happy days with Bonnie in a sequence of motorhomes. They traveled through all 48 continental US States and spent many long weekend trips with close friends from Church who also enjoyed the RV life.
Jerry is survived by his wife Bonnie, sons David (and his wife Sandy of Mount Holly, NC), Steve (and his wife Sally of Lawrence, KS), and Andrew (and his wife Gayla of Granite Bay, CA) and his daughter Suzanne (and her husband Bill of Roseville, CA), along with all 5 of his grandchildren, Joshua, Katie, Maggie, Cole and Jacob.
Jerry’s memorial service is at First Lutheran Church, Placerville on Tuesday, April 2 at 2PM. He will be interred at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA in recognition of his Naval service. The family has designated that any donations be made to First Lutheran Church in honor of Jerry’s many years of service there.
