

Monty passed away at home on November 20, 2010, with his Daughters, Brother and numerous family members at his bedside, he was loved. Monty put up a courageous and hard fight, never once did he complain, he remained kind to everyone and often shared his trademark wink and wonderful smile!
Monty was born in North Hollywood, California on January 26, 1937 to Jack and Vella Montgomery. Monty lived most of his life in El Dorado County. Monty was preceded in death by Daughter Linda A. Hoover. Monty is survived by his loving children: Son: Mark Montgomery, Daughters and their husbands; Michelle & Robert Fritz, Sharon & Jerry Lehman, Christina & Marvin Craghead, Son in Law; Chris Hoover, Siblings; Jackie Elder, Johnny & Robert Montgomery, Grandchildren; Matthew, Angela, Benjamin, Paul, Jason, Joshua, Christine, Bryan, Courtney, Christopher, Kyle, Christopher & Elizabeth, Great Grandchildren; Lexy, Jeffrey, Sierra & Audrey.
Monty served in he United States Marine Corps for 17 years as a staff Sergeant, he was in the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Korean Conflict. After leaving his career in the Marines Monty worked for a time as a Deputy Sheriff with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department, before beginning his career with the California Highway Patrol's Placerville office. Monty worked as the Maintenance & Auto Shop Man for 28 years before retiring. Monty let it be known often that all the fine people at the C.H.P. office were indeed considered a large part of his family.
Monty loved life and he had many hobbies; He was a talented Artist, he loved fishing & camping, and he loved to sing especially with his friends at the Irish Pub in Diamond Springs on Karaoke night. Monty and his beautiful smile will be greatly missed by his family and many, many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 4, 2010 at the Cold Springs Community Church, 2600 Cold Springs Rd.
